We are often asked if we can support patients with other life impacting illnesses, so we carried out some research with colleagues from the health board to find out which are most in need of additional support. 

Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive neurological condition that can have a profound impact on every aspect of a person’s life. As needs change over time, having access to timely, compassionate and practical support can make a real difference for people affected by MND and those closest to them.

Our MND service will offer emotional support, information, guidance and signposting, helping individuals and families feel less alone as they navigate diagnosis, changing needs, treatment decisions, care planning and the impact of bereavement. We will work alongside existing health, social care and voluntary sector partners to provide joined-up support that is responsive to each person’s circumstances.

This service reflects our commitment to ensuring that people living with MND, and those who love and care for them, are met with understanding, dignity and emotional support when they need it most.

We are looking forward to developing this work and working with professionals, families and communities across the area.
